{"id":10585,"date":"2022-10-12T06:05:16","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T04:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/?p=10585"},"modified":"2022-10-12T06:10:57","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T04:10:57","slug":"development-of-active-packaging-from-biodegradable-polymers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/en\/development-of-active-packaging-from-biodegradable-polymers\/","title":{"rendered":"Development of active packaging from biodegradable polymers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cesnet.zoom.us\/j\/95599706064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/cesnet.zoom.us\/j\/95599706064<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">Active packaging offers extended shelf life, ensures higher quality and safety of packaged products, as they actively influence storage conditions.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">Active packaging is produced by incorporating active ingredients (substances with antimicrobial and antioxidant activity) into the packaging material, which are subsequently released from the packaging material into the surrounding area.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">Due to stricter standards in the food industry and the prohibition of the use of many substances, the use of substances of natural origin, such as essential oils or key components of these oils, which inhibit the growth of certain strains of bacteria, is preferred.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">The most used method for incorporating active substances into plastic films in the packaging industry is the extrusion process.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">However, this process has disadvantages such as possible volatilization or degradation of active agents due to the high-temperature values used during plastic processing.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">One of the successful techniques is supercritical impregnation using carbon dioxide (CO2).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">Thanks to this technique, organic compounds dissolved in supercritical CO2 are not susceptible to thermal degradation because the critical point of carbon dioxide is not extremely high (pc=7.4 MPa, Tc=37 \u00b0C).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">The most used packaging materials are plastics.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">Conventional plastics have recently been replaced by bioplastics, e.g. poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(butylene adipate terephthalate) (PBAT), which are attractive primarily due to their biodegradability and therefore environmental friendliness, contributing to the reduction of the<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\"><span class=\"Q4iAWc\">waste and at the same time are not dependent on oil production.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"cs\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">Lecture within the project<\/span><\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/projekt\/mobility-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00daCHP Mobilita II<\/a> (CZ.02.2.69\/0.0\/0.0\/18_053\/0016920)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5194 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/M\u0160MT.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"155\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/M\u0160MT.png 700w, https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/M\u0160MT-300x66.png 300w, https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/M\u0160MT-370x82.png 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>https:\/\/cesnet.zoom.us\/j\/95599706064 Active packaging offers extended shelf life, ensures higher quality and safety of packaged products, as they actively influence storage conditions.
