This year, our Institute has participated in the Open Science internships (https:\/\/www.otevrenaveda.cz\/cs\/index.html<\/a>). In this programme, secondary grammar school students will be involved in the research that is carried out at our Institute. Two internships have been announced, with 5 enthusiastic students attending them since January.<\/p>\n

Three secondary grammar school students – Tom\u00e1\u0161 Groh, Hynek Hartl and Filip Vr\u00e1tn\u00fd – chose an internship within the Open Science programme called \u201cWater Purification from Micropollutants\u201d under the guidance of Martina Dlaskov\u00e1 from the Research Group of Catalysis and Reaction Engineering. The last of the three students commutes to our institute in Prague-Lysolaje from Moravia (Ro\u017enov pod Radho\u0161t\u011bm). During their visits to the laboratory, they learn how micropollutants enter the environment, what dangers they pose and what methods are available for cleaning and degrading these substances. The students will also learn about analytical methods for determining micropollutants and learn more about the removal of microplastics from water, which will be introduced by our colleague Mark\u00e9ta Sp\u00e1\u010dilov\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Another two students – Hedvika Hujerov\u00e1 and Filip Dvo\u0159\u00e1k – chose the internship entitled: \u201cPreparation of cytotoxic organocomplexes of iron and ruthenium with carbohydrate ligands\u201d, which is led by Vojt\u011bch Hamala from the Research Group of Bioorganic Chemistry and Biomaterials. As part of the internship, both students will experience working in the laboratory to develop new organometallic anticancer drugs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
