{"id":16333,"date":"2024-09-07T15:15:36","date_gmt":"2024-09-07T13:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/?p=16333"},"modified":"2024-09-07T15:25:38","modified_gmt":"2024-09-07T13:25:38","slug":"introduction-of-phosphorus-hexacycles-into-aromatic-structures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/en\/introduction-of-phosphorus-hexacycles-into-aromatic-structures\/","title":{"rendered":"Introduction of Phosphorus Hexacycles into Aromatic Structures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Organophosphorus \u03c0-conjugated systems have become the subject of intensive research in recent years, mainly due to their use in materials chemistry (OLEDs, OFETs, nonlinear optical devices, photovoltaic cells, and various sensor devices).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">A special place in this group of substances is occupied by phosphorus hexacycles, in which the phosphorus atom often exhibits a special hyperconjugation effect, which distinguishes these compounds from other \u03c0-conjugated organophosphorus molecules.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The phosphorus hexacycle in polyaromatics increases their solubility in common organic solvents, increases photostability, provides ambipolar redox properties, and often improves electroluminescence both in solution and in the solid state.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The presence of the phosphorus atom then facilitates further derivatization (oxidation (O, S, Se), borylation, alkylation, formation of metal complexes), thereby effectively changing some key properties of the target molecules (HOMO\/LUMO difference, charge transfer rate, triplet-triplet spin interaction,<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">absorption and luminescence properties), thereby adapting them to the intended use.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Consequently, phosphorus hexacycles have already been used as biomarkers for cancer treatment, sensors, catalysts, or in material chemistry (OLED, EFD).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Although considerable progress has been made recently in the synthesis of phosphorus hexacycles, the preparation of phosphanaphthalenes and other polyaromatic compounds containing a phosphine ring is rare and often faces various limitations such as the use of complex synthetic procedures or a narrow group of similar derivatives that can be obtained in this way.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In the group Dr.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">J. Storch has recently developed a robust and efficient synthesis by which the phosphinine core can be introduced into aromatic compounds with relative ease.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Therefore, several phosphanaphthalene derivatives were prepared, followed by several larger \u03c0-systems containing phosphine.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">During this study, an unexpected reactivity leading to a hitherto unknown group of substances &#8211; azaphosphorines &#8211; was also discovered.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16330 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2.jpg 1071w, https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2-300x113.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2-1024x385.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2-768x289.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.icpf.cas.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Beranek-01_Page_2-370x139.jpg 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organophosphorus \u03c0-conjugated systems have become the subject of intensive research in recent years, mainly due to their use in materials chemistry (OLEDs, OFETs, nonlinear optical devices, photovoltaic cells, and various sensor devices).
