Responsibilities and Competences
The Director is the statutory body of the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS (ICPF). The Director manages the operation of the Institute, acts on its behalf, and decides on all matters that are not reserved for other bodies (the Board of the Institute, the Supervisory Board, or the Founder – the Czech Academy of Sciences) by Act No. 341/2005 Coll., on Public Research Institutions, or by the Foundation Charter.
The Director is appointed and dismissed by the Founder (the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences) based on a competitive selection process and upon proposal by the Board of the Institute. The Director’s term of office is five years.
Main Responsibilities and Powers of the Director:
- Executive Leadership and Representation: Represents the Institute externally before state authorities, the academic community, industrial partners, and international institutions.
- Financial and Economic Management: Responsible for the proper management of the Institute’s assets and financial resources, as well as the preparation of the annual budget and financial statements.
- Employment and Personnel Matters: Acts as the employer – appoints and recalls heads of research and service departments and hires staff members.
- Strategic Development and Research Management: Determines the concept of research activities and the development of the Institute’s infrastructure in cooperation with the Board of the Institute.
- Internal Regulations: Issues the Organizational Rules and other internal directives of the Institute.
