Facilities Management (THS)

Responsibilities

The Operations and Facilities Management Department (THS) ensures the smooth operation, property management, technical infrastructure, and logistical support for the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS. Its primary objective is to maintain a safe, functional, and efficient working environment for research teams and administrative units.

Key Responsibilities and Activities:

• Facility Management and Maintenance: Operation, maintenance, repairs, and structural modifications of buildings, technical equipment, and the Institute’s premises.
• Energy and Infrastructure Operations: Management of energy supplies (electricity, gas, water), HVAC systems, cooling, gas distribution, and specialized laboratory utility lines.
• Logistics and Fleet Management: Management of the Institute’s vehicle fleet, transport coordination, mailroom operations, and handling of shipments and materials.
• Occupational Health, Safety, and Fire Protection (OHS & FP): Methodological guidance, compliance monitoring, and enforcement of occupational health and safety regulations, fire safety, and waste management.
• Asset and Inventory Management: Equipment tracking and registration, central storage management, and coordination of regular property inventories.
• External Services and Contracting: Coordination of outsourced services, including cleaning, facility security, and mandatory technical inspections.
