Institute Council

Its primary role is to oversee the scientific performance of the Institute, determine research directions, and approve key economic and personnel measures.

Main Competences of the Board of the Institute

According to the Act on Public Research Institutions, the Board performs the following tasks:

1. Election and Dismissal of the Director: The Board announces the selection procedure for the position of Director of the Institute, proposes their appointment to the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and may also submit a proposal for their dismissal.
2. Research Concept and Direction: Determines the main directions of the Institute’s scientific activities and approves the concept of its long-term development.
3. Budget Approval: Discusses the proposal for the Institute’s annual budget, its amendments, and the medium-term financial outlook.
4. Internal Regulations: Approves key internal documents, such as the Organizational Rules, Election Rules, or Rules of Procedure.
5. Property Transactions: Gives prior consent to selected legal actions, such as the purchase or sale of real estate or the establishment of other legal entities (e.g., spin-off companies).
6. Annual Reports: Approves the annual report on the activities and financial management of the Institute before it is submitted to the Founder.
