Research Specialist – Analyst / Mineralogist

New UHR-SEM Microanalytical Laboratory (Ultra-High-Resolution Scanning Electron Microscope)

Focus: EPMA – WDS (Wavelength-Dispersive X‑ray Spectroscopy), SEM – EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-Dispersive X‑ray Spectroscopy)

We are seeking a Research Specialist / Postdoctoral Researcher for the newly established, state-of-the-art microscopy laboratory at ICPF CAS. If you have experience with EPMA (WDS) and SEM/EDS, and are interested in working on projects in secondary raw materials, circular economy, chemical or environmental engineering, or materials chemistry, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze a wide range of primary and secondary raw materials, advanced materials, etc., using UHR-SEM, WDS, and SEM-EDS.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate analytical instruments.
  • Prepare samples and handle glovebox operations with inert transfer protocols.
  • Develop and optimize analytical methodologies.
  • Participate in research projects, technical reporting, and scientific publications.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • University degree (MSc / PhD) in Natural Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science (PhD and proven experience in the field are a strong advantage).
  • Hands-on experience with EPMA/WDS and SEM-EDS (top priority).
  • Background as a chemist, mineralogist, or materials scientist is an asset.
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
