Abstract:

The main goal of the project is development of a small-scale fluidized bed combustion technology for a dried sewage sludge in a decentralized application that will be intended for energy and material utilization of the dried sludge. Expected thermal power input is in range 0.3-4 MW. The activities are focused on research of the FB technology for this fuel itself, particularly behavior of intrinsic ash as a bed material, design and testing of key components (e.g. distribution of fuel and oxidizer), bed temperature control, research of primary measures for restriction of release of pollutants and design of practical conditions for this process in terms of subsequent material recovery of the ash in this small scale. Main result will be a verified technology, allowing practical deployment.
