Water for Life – Water Treatment Technology

Abstract:

The activity is focused on multiphase systems of various types (gas-liquid, liquid-solid, gas-liquid-solid phase), which are part of the technologies used both in the production of drinking water and in the treatment of waste water. Due to their complexity, they are understood mainly empirically, when the long-term personal experience of an expert is an irreplaceable tool for their mastery and successful management. We aim to demystify complex phenomena into simpler processes and describe them fundamentally and as precisely as possible. Two typical operations are investigated: flotation and aeration, in order to study the mechanism of interaction between bubbles and particles with regard to the formation of stable floatable flakes.
