The Bažant PhD Students’ Conference

The Bažant PhD Students’ Conference is held annually by the ICPF Committee for Scientific Training for students in years 1 – 4 of doctoral studies who are preparing their dissertations at our institute. The conference is competitive, and the contributions are assessed by a committee made up of members of the Committee for Scientific Training and invited external experts, which awards prizes for the best presentations.

2026

Bažant Postgraduate Conference took place on 3 June 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The jury, consisting of members of the Doctoral Studies Committee of ICPF (J. Tihon, R. Fajgar, K. Soukup, S. Orvalho, J. Karban, and V. Ždímal) and one external expert (Martin Hájek from the University of Pardubice), decided to award the best presentations from 21 contributions in three categories (1^st-year, 2^nd-year, and 3^rd to 4^th-year).

The Bažant PhD Students’ Conference took place on 17 June 2025 from 9:00 to 16:00. The jury, composed of members of the doctoral studies committee of the ICPF Committee for Scientific Training – J. Tihoň, R. Fajgar, K. Soukup, S. Orvalho, I. Brányiková and V. Ždímal – and two external experts, Josef Šimek of UJEP and Martin Hájek of the University of Pardubice, decided to give awards to 17 contributions in two categories (year 1 and years 2 – 4).

The Bažant PhD Students’ Conference took place on 5 and 6 June 2024 at the ICPF; 19 contributions were presented at the conference. The committee, composed of members of the ICPF doctoral studies committee (J. Tihon, R. Fajgar, K. Soukup, S. Orvalho, I. Brányiková and V. Ždímal) and external experts (Josef Šimek of UJEP, Martin Hájek of the University of Pardubice, Pavlína Basařová and Dr. Bendová of UCT Prague) decided to give awards to the best presentations in two categories (years 1 – 2 and years 3 – 4).

The Bažant Postgraduate Conference took place on 13 and 14 June 2022 in the Great Assembly Hall of the ICPF. 22 students from the 1st to 4th year, who completed their doctoral dissertations at the ICPF in cooperation with Czech and foreign universities, presented their papers in English. 4^th place: Ing. Jakub Crha Experimental study of bubble dynamics in aqueous solutions of simple alcohols: CFD validation data

5^th place: Mahdi Bourassi, MSc. Tetracycline degradation using catalysts of platinum coated over CeO₂ and CeO₂ ZrO₂

A new feature this year was the voting of doctoral students for the best presentation. In this “sympathy competition”, the lecture of Antonín Edr received the most votes, making him the overall winner of this year’s event.
