NMR-omics

NMR-omics is a relatively new topic in our laboratory. Using a metabolomic approach, it is possible to determine a number of metabolites in bodily fluids just from the ¹H NMR spectrum. The concentration profiles of identified compounds serve as an input into multivariable statistical methods which enable the discrimination of patient samples from healthy controls for a given disease. A similar approach is used for the analysis of aerosols in so-called aerosolomics, where source apportionment is the main aim of the research.
