Molecular breeding and less waste. Czech scientists are looking for a recipe to feed the world

Food production often generates waste that is difficult to process and not easy to dispose of. In the Czech Republic, for example, up to 100 000 tonnes of feathers are produced annually. The Institute of Chemical Processes Fundamentals of the Czech Academy of Sciences has succeeded in developing a method that converts this difficult waste into hydrolysate. The hydrolysate promotes plant growth and significantly improves the soil microbiome, which is an essential component of healthy soil.
