Polyaromatic Compounds Containing Phosphinine Ring
Many synthetic strategies attempt to vary the shape and size of the π-conjugated system of carbon compounds to obtain optimal properties for the intended application. Recently, an alternative approach has come to the fore, which introduces a heteroatom (phosphorus) into the conjugated aromatic backbone, whose specific properties (chiral center on phosphorus, easy change of oxidation state, possibility of derivatization) significantly influence the behavior of the π-framework. We aim to develop a simple and efficient synthetic approach based on our published method, which leads to phosphahelicene and introduces a phosphinine ring into the aromatic system. This approach is generalized and applied to synthesizing phosphanaphthalenes and phosphapolyaromatics based on phenacenes, helicenes, or nanographenes.
