The Hála Lectures
To honour the memory of Professor Eduard Hála, the institute’s management decided in 1999 to hold an annual commemorative Hála Lecture, to which distinguished world experts in the fields studied at the ICPF are invited to speak.
Who Was Eduard Hála
Prof. Eduard Hála (1919 – 1989) was an outstanding physical chemist, world-
renowned in particular for his fundamental work in the field of liquid
vapour equilibria, an excellent teacher and a distinguished figure known not only at
the Academy of Sciences but throughout the global chemical
engineering community. He contributed significantly to the development of the field of phase equilibria
on a worldwide scale. He was a professor of physical chemistry at UCT
in Prague and a full member of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, deputy director
of the Institute of Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences.
