Unique crystals that change color according to the light were presented by the glass company Preciosa. The color change is caused by substances that the company, in cooperation with the Institute of Chemical Processes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, obtains from recycled waste from electric motors. The color is called Mesmera, and it is precisely because of its origin and because it is unique in the world. The patented technology is ready to be used in industrial operations, explains Václav Gruber, who has been dealing with lanthanoids at ÚCHP for three decades.
