Abstract:
Project goals are 1) To commission a reference laboratory microreactor unit for testing the activity of catalysts for ammonia decomposition using the microreactor infrastructure of the ICPF, its necessary complementation and modification for compatibility with NH3. 2) Develop metal and rare metal based catalyst (e.g. Ni or Ru) modifications to optimize composition, morphology and texture to achieve significant energy reduction. 3) Model the technical solution of a compact microreactor unit using optimized metal catalysts based on the analysis of the data obtained to meet the required performance. 4) Fabrication and validation of a functional sample of catalytic microreactor unit, which will serve as a developmental unit with a final end fuel cell power in the range of 0.2 to 1 kW (proof of concept).
