Bažant Postgraduate Conference 2023

 

The Bažant Postgraduate Conference took place on May 31 and June 1, 2023. The evaluation committee (for the KVV: M. Bendová, R. Fajgar, K. Soukup, J. Tihon, and I. Brányiková; external members: Prof. Pavlína Basařová from the UCT Prague and Assoc. Prof. Jiří Mikyška from the CTU) assessed 22 contributions in three categories.

 

Results of the Bažant Postgraduate Conference 2023

First-year Students

1st place: Ing. Claudia Vásquez Cultivation of Limnospira maxima and utilization of its fresh biomass in human nutrition

2nd place: Mgr. Václav Harrandt The electrodiffusional theory for wall shear stress measurement by the two-strip probe: journey to near-wall region hydrodynamics

3rd place: Ing. Mark Terentyak Liquid mixing time and gas holdup in a bubble column bioreactor

In 4th place narrowly placed Ing. Anežka Sedmihradská Properties and use of high-temperature biochar, and in 5th place Mgr. Anna Paříková Separation of exosomes from polydisperse suspension in microfluidic devices

Second- to Third-year Students
1st place: Mgr. Lenka Suchánková The effect of meteorology and aerosol size distribution on light scattering properties at a rural background site in Central Europe

2nd place: Ing. Jan Čížek Chiral anion exchanger based on α-methyl benzylamine for enantioselective separation of racemic acids

3rd places: Ing. Karolina Salvadori Utilization of electrochemically induced cleavage of various sulfonimides ex aequo with Mgr. Petrou Mušálkovou Use of photoautotrophic microorganisms in the bioremediation of surface waters

Behind them, in 4th place, was Ing. Matěj Hušek Organic fluorine content and change during thermal treatment, and in 5th place MSc. Kajal Julaha Intercomparison of boundary layer and mixing layer height from models and ground-based measurements.

 

Fourth-year Students

1st place: Ing, Martin Kurfiřt Detailed Investigation of Human Galectins -1 and -3 by employing selectively deoxyfluorinated N-acetyllactosamines

2nd place: Ing. Vojtěch Hamala Organoruthenium glycomimetics as selective galectin-1 inhibitors

3rd place: Mahdi Bourassi, MSc. How can we best eliminate pharmaceuticals from wastewater?
