Prof. Ing. Jiří Hanika, DrSc. received the Jaroslav Heyrovský Honorary Medal for Merit in the Chemical Sciences

On 14 September 2022, Prof. Jiří Hanika received the Jaroslav Heyrovský Honorary Medal for Merit in the Chemical Sciences from the President of the Academy of Sciences, Prof. Eva Zažímalová. The medal ceremony took place at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague at Národní 3.

Prof. Jiří Hanika is a graduate of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, where he worked for many years at the Department of Organic Technology of the Faculty of Chemical Technology. In 2004, he was elected director of the ICPF and remained in this position until 2012.

For the work of Prof. Jiří Hanika in the sphere of chemical reactor engineering, heterogeneous catalysis, organic technologies, and petrochemical and pharmaceutical engineering is a typical connection to the industry. In his thanks, he did not forget Prof. Jiří Hanika to mention the legacy of the scientist whose name the medal bears. “Jaroslav Heyrovsky was nominated for the Nobel Prize eighteen times – and in three different scientific fields, which only proves the enormous breadth of his scope. It is therefore an honor for me to accept the medal with his name on it.”
