Removal of pollutants from industrial gases using novel specific poly-ion liquid membranes: experiments and modelling

Abstract:

The aim of the project is the investigation of new efficient separation membranes based on poly-ion liquid materials for the separation of CO2, SO2, and water vapor from the air. In the project, we plan to develop new types of membranes, for which we expect better separation and permeation performance compared to state-of-the-art commercial membranes for effective air purification. New types of membranes, based on poly-ionic liquid membranes, will be investigated in processes for removing a wide range of gaseous pollutants from model flue gases. To describe the transport and predict the efficiency of membranes, a new mathematical model using molecular dynamics will be proposed within the project. Subsequently, the optimal cleaning conditions (i.e. feed flow, temperature, pressure) will be determined for the best membranes.
