On 10th May 2023, a five-member delegation of Algerian politicians led by Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and SMEs, and Belkac Zeghmati, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, visited the ICPF.
Chairman of the Institute’s Board Dr. Ing. Vladimír Ždímal, introduced the delegation to the main research directions of the Institute and possible areas of cooperation. Since one of the key areas of interest for Algerian politicians is innovation in sustainable food production under water and arable land scarcity, Ing. Irena Brányiková, PhD., Head of the Algal and Microbial Biotechnology Research Group, presented the Research that on the use of microalgae for human nutrition. Next, Ing. Pavel Jeřábek, Managing Director of AQUA Project s.r.o., who informed about the Photobioreactor Helena project and the ongoing cooperation with ICPF. The members of the delegation visited the algae research laboratory at ICPF and during a lively discussion they tasted the prepared food containing microalgae. It was agreed that further discussions would follow at the Algerian Embassy in Prague.
